Community Enjoys Riverbank Restoration
Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 10:08AM Residents of Walton on the Chattahoochee in Cobb County, Ga. are enjoying the beauty and tranquility of nature along the Chattahoochee River thanks to Walton Communities and Aquascape Environmental.
Walton Communities, which develops, owns and manages several high-quality apartment communities in the suburbs just north of Atlanta, contracted Aquascape Environmental for a riverbank restoration project at the Walton on the Chattahoochee community on Akers Mill Road. Restoration activities included rehabilitation of eroding banks, removal of invasive exotic vegetation, and re-establishment of the natural riparian buffer zone.
The project, which was completed in early June, served to enhance and protect the stretch of the Chattahoochee River that runs adjacent to the apartment community.
While the primary goal of the riverbank restoration project at Walton on the Chattahoochee was to achieve overall stability of the riverbank, buffer areas and habitat, special consideration was made by Walton Communities and Aquascape Environmental to ensure continued access to and enjoyment of the area by residents.
