The term "water feature" may be used to describe fountains, pools, ponds, cascades and waterfalls, both indoor and outdoor. These features are typically self-contained, with water recycled from a pond, reservoir or sump, rather than water being plumbed in. Most water features are powered by electric pumps, but some may be solar powered. Typical materials incorporated into water feature designs include stone, granite, stainless steel, resin, and glass, in addition to aquatic plantings and (in some cases) decorative fish.
